The bottom-line, however is that things just happen. Things will happen as long as you live. You will need to or have to deal with things that happen to you and around you. And, they will not happen according to your plans. You can whine all you want. At the end of whining you still have to deal with them.
Do things happen in clusters? Believe it or not, they may and they do. You may have nothing eventful happen for 20 years. And boom, suddenly you are in a big hole. The question is, “Are you ready and prepared for anything to happen to and around you.” If you are, you are in a good shape. If you are not, you will have a big jolt. If you ask me or listen to me, I will say, “Make this part of your life.” Things happen to other people around you. Instead of feeling sorry for others, start thinking and asking this question, “Could this happen to you and if it did how will you handle it.” I am not asking you to be a negative thinker. On the contrary, I am asking you to be a positive thinker in any situation.
The question changes from why to how. How to effectively deal with the worst case scenarios and how to avoid these scenarios. You are always ready. Everything that happens to and around you is already expected and accepted. You have the ability to deal with the good ones and the bad ones. And you are a happy person in all situations. Am I presuming too much. May be I am, but then what is too much.
Krishna in Chapter 18 verse 14 talks about five determinants for results. Although, there is no direct relationship with whining and results, these insights do help us be on the better side of what may happen. The five determinants are:
-
Platform: Surrounding under which an action is performed
-
The Doer
-
Means
-
Efforts
-
Unseen factors. Krishna calls it divine, you may call it Luck
And some will say that you can affect and influence what happens around you. I believe this to an extent. If you are nice to others, nice things may happen around you. If you help others, you may get help from others. It may not come from the same person, but it will come back.
These are strong opinions. You may not and you do not have to agree with them. As long as you can think about it.....it is okay.
