Osho birthday 2011December 11, 2011 Today is Osho’s Birth Day: Never Born -- Never Died -- Only visited this planet Earth between December 11, 1931 and January 19, 1990. With these literally immortal words, Osho both dictates his epitaph and dispenses with his biography. Having previously removed his name from everything, he finally agrees to accept "Osho," explaining that it is derived from William James' "oceanic." "It is not my name," he says, "it is a healing sound."
My Osho I first met Osho, then Bhagwan Rajneesh in 1971 in Mt. Abu meditation camp. I had attended his talk before when he first came to Patna as Prof. Rajneesh. Now he is just Osho for me. I took sanyas in 1971 and during sanyas he hesitated a moment before he put the mala in my neck and gave me a name, Swami Krishna Mohan Bharati. Many years later I found out that he hesitated because he saw a hesitation in my eyes and not because he wondered if I am a suitable for his sanyas. I always remember two of my encounters with him:
