Osho birthday 2011

December 11, 2011

Today is Osho’s Birth Day:

Never Born -- Never Died -- Only visited this planet Earth between December 11, 1931 and January 19, 1990. With these literally immortal words, Osho both dictates his epitaph and dispenses with his biography. Having previously removed his name from everything, he finally agrees to accept "Osho," explaining that it is derived from William James' "oceanic." "It is not my name," he says, "it is a healing sound."

My Osho

I first met Osho, then Bhagwan Rajneesh in 1971 in Mt. Abu meditation camp. I had attended his talk before when he first came to Patna as Prof. Rajneesh. Now he is just Osho for me.

I took sanyas in 1971 and during sanyas he hesitated a moment before he put the mala in my neck and gave me a name, Swami Krishna Mohan Bharati. Many years later I found out that he hesitated because he saw a hesitation in my eyes and not because he wondered if I am a suitable for his sanyas.

I always remember two of my encounters with him:

Sakam Karma: Desire driven Actions

Sakam Karma: Desire driven actions.

What it is not:

Many translate sakam karma as ‘selfish actions.’   I think it is far from the truth. In that respect, Buddha was a selfish man; he left his wife and children for selfish interests.   Sakam karma is not necessarily bad

Karma Sanyas: giving up of mundane actions

December 4, 2011

Gita jayanti month

Karma Sanyas (Give up mundane actions)

So far we have discussed about definition and types of karma. We will take up the karma sanyas today, which means giving up of mundane karma.

Do you have a routine life? You have a job or you are retired. You come home, watch TV, and play video games and or surf on the internet. Just think of those who live life in service of God. They pray, they preach and they are there to help you when you need it most.

Different types of karma yoga

Yesterday we talked about definition of karma....today we shall talk about different types of karma

There are two pathways for Karma

Karma sanyas or abandoning the mundane karma

Karmayoga or abandoning no karma

But stay non-attached to the karma

And of the two, karma yoga is superior

Merely because it is easier to follow //Bhagavad Gita:5:2//
